Due to a tragic accident, Banri Tada is struck with amnesia, dissolving the memories of his hometown and past. However, after befriending Mitsuo Yanagisawa, he decides to move on and begin a new life at law school in Tokyo. But just as he is beginning to adjust to his college life, the beautiful Kouko Kaga dramatically barges into Banri’s life, and their chance meeting marks the beginning of an unforgettable year.

Sorata Kanda wakes up to another chaotic morning as one of the students living in the Sakura Dormitory, a dorm affiliated with Suimei University of the Arts for trouble-making students. He got put in the dorm after taking in stray cats he would find on the street. His teacher Chihiro Sengoku who also lives at the dorm tells him to meet up with her cousin Mashiro Shiina and bring her back to the dorm since Mashiro is transferring to the school. Chihiro gives him a photograph of Mashiro when she was a small child and no other explanations. He meets her later that day, and takes her back to the dorm where she meets the chaotic gifted members of the dorm at dinner. In the morning, Chihiro tells Sorata to take care of Mashiro. He goes to Mashiro’s room to find clothes and other things scattered around, and discovers that Mashiro has trouble taking care of herself, including getting dressed. It takes a lot of time for him to get Mashiro ready for school and they run to make it to school in time.

Much like the other students at her school, first-year student Saki Aoi finds herself captivated by the beauty of her senior on the school board, Makoto Hanaoka. While she worries that Hanaoka would be uncomfortable receiving a confession from another girl, Aoi musters up the courage to tell her anyway. However, Hanaoka’s response surprises Aoi for a completely different reason—Hanaoka is actually a cross-dressing boy!

Fully expecting Aoi to be abhorred by this revelation, Hanaoka is shocked to find that she has no issues with it. Though Hanaoka rejects Aoi’s request to go out with her—citing his identity and the fact that he has never fallen in love before—Aoi insists that she will become his first love. Taken aback by Aoi’s determination, Hanaoka wonders if he can really fall in love with her if he cannot find it in him to truly love himself first.
